The photo locket necklace is one of those pieces of jewelry you wear as much for yourself as for others. From the outside, it is an elegant oval pendant. When opened, it reveals a photo, a face, a memory. It is this dual nature that makes it a unique piece of jewelry. What exactly is a photo locket? A photo locket is a pendant that opens, usually in two hinged parts, to reveal a photo placed inside. The concept has existed since the 16th century: at the time, lockets contained painted miniatures of loved ones or lovers. The idea hasn't changed in five centuries, and that is precisely its strength: it is a piece of jewelry that keeps someone close to you. Modern lockets hold high-definition printed photos, protected by glass or transparent resin inside the pendant. The photo is sent when ordering, resized and adjusted to the locket's format, and then permanently integrated into the jewelry. Photo locket or photo projection jewelry: what's the difference? This is a common confusion, and it is useful to clarify. Both are pieces of jewelry containing a photo, but the mechanism is completely different. The photo locket opens physically: you see the photo directly with the naked eye when opening the pendant. The photo is visible, clear, and in color, like a small frame you wear around your neck. It is a more classic, intimate, and immediate piece of jewelry. The photo projection jewelry does not open. The photo is laser-engraved into a synthetic stone and only appears when you shine a direct light source (like a phone flashlight) through the stone. The effect is more spectacular and secretive, but the photo is in black and white and requires specific lighting to be seen. In summary: if the person wants to be able to open their jewelry and see the photo in color at any time, the locket is the right choice. If they prefer a piece of jewelry with a secret invisible to others, the photo projection jewelry is more suitable. Both have their value; they simply meet different emotional needs. Which photo should you choose for a locket? The locket format is small, generally between 15 and 25 mm in diameter. This means the photo must be adapted to remain legible at this scale. The photos that work best are: a close-up portrait of a face (child, parent, pet), a close-up photo of a couple, or a shot with a simple, well-contrasted background. Avoid wide group shots with many people, landscapes, or images with too many details in the background: at this size, faces become illegible. Resolution is also important. A photo taken with a recent phone is more than enough, provided it isn't excessively cropped. The sharper and brighter the original photo, the better the rendering in the locket. When ordering, our team systematically checks the image quality and contacts you if an adjustment is necessary. Who is the photo locket necklace for? The photo locket is one of the rare pieces of jewelry that appeals just as much to young women as it does to grandmothers, which is what makes it universal. For a mother or grandmother, it allows her to carry a photo of her children or grandchildren with her at all times. It is a particularly appreciated gift for Mother's Day, Grandmother's Day, or a milestone birthday. For a partner or a friend, a photo of a couple or a shared memory creates a deeply intimate piece of jewelry. For someone who has lost a loved one, the photo locket is also an object of memory, a way to keep a daily presence close by. It is a piece of jewelry that doesn't age, because the emotion it holds doesn't age either. Photo Locket Necklace — €39.90 How do you maintain a photo locket? The 316L stainless steel locket necklace does not require special maintenance for the metallic part. A soft cloth is enough to keep the gold or silver finish shining. However, for the photo inside, a few precautions are important. Avoid opening and closing the locket too frequently: each opening exerts slight tension on the hinge. Do not touch the surface of the photo with your fingers, as oily traces can alter its clarity over time. Finally, remove the locket before a long shower or swimming in a pool, not for the metal, but to protect the photo inside.
